Vietnam has 11 operational railway lines with a total of approximately 2,600 km of railway track. The majority of the railway network is made up of the North-South line which is also known as the Reunification Line as it runs from the capital of was North Vietnam (Ha Noi) and South Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City or Sai Gon) for a distance of 1,726 km.

There are currently 11 railway lines in operation in Vietnam. By length, longest to shortest, they are:

  • Kép to Ha Long – 106 km
  • Hanoi to Hai Phong – 102 km
  • Hanoi to Thái Nguyên – 75 km
  • Thái Nguyên to Kép – 57 km
  • Pho Lu to Xuan Giao – 11 km
  • Tien Kien to Bai Bang – 10.5 km
  • Da Lat to Trai Mat – 7 km
  • Tien Kien to Lam Thao – 4.1 km
