About Da Nang Train Station
Da Nang Railway Station was opened in 1902, which is the same year as Hue Railway Station was opened. Da Nang is on the main north-south railway line in Vietnam, also called the Reunification Line, which was built in sections between 1899 and 1936 connecting Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in the south to Hanoi, in the north of the country.
The construction of Da Nang Railway Station was overseen by the French Public Works Department, as was the overall construction of the main railway line. The original railway station built during the French colonial era, which once resembled Nha Trang Railway Station, has been replaced several times. The only reminder of the early history of the station is the magnificent steam engine displayed in the forecourt of the train station.

Da Nang Railway Station is currently one of the five most important railway stations in Vietnam, with around 75,000 passengers passing through the station each day.
The station has three platforms. To access the furthest two platforms from the main station building passengers need to walk across the train tracks, which is easy to do as the platforms are very low. The disadvantage of the low platform height is that passengers need to climb further upward to board a a train. Wheelchair users or people with restricted mobility are likely to need assistance with getting on and off trains at Da Nang Railway Station.
