About Travel to Nha Trang


Nha Trang is a popular destination with both Vietnamese and foreign holiday makers. The main attraction for most visitors to Nha Trang is Nha Trang Beach which is a 6 km long white sand beach in the city itself. The centre of Nha Trang has holiday town atmosphere with lots of bars, restaurants and pleasant hotels. Its a nice place although perhaps a little too commercially developed for the tastes of some independent travellers looking for a different type of experience from the people coming to the city for a 1 week beach holiday.

However, Nha Trang also has some places on interest and cultural importance that make it worth visiting for reasons other than wanting to sunbath on the beach. The most important historical site in Nha Trang is Po Nagar Temple, which is a temple built by the Cham civilisation from the 9th Century with additionally parts being added periodically through the 17th Century. Po Nagar Temple is in excellent condition considering its age and is perhaps the best example of a Cham temple in South East Asia. Also of interest in Nha Trang City is Dam Market, a market constructed in the mid 1970s in a architectural style reminiscent of buildings constructed the former USSR, and Long Son Pagoda which features a large Buddha Statue on a hill.
