About Nha Trang
Nha Trang is a very pleasant seaside city which attracts large numbers of holiday makers from Ho Chi Minh City as well as foreign visitors on package holidays, particularly from Russia. The package tourists fly in direct to nearby Cam Ranh International Airport on charter flights during the holiday season.
Nha Trang City Centre
The main attraction is the 6 km long Tran Phu Beach which is located in centre of the city. The beach has a very pleasant promenade running along it with some tourist oriented bars and restaurants on the beach front. Nha Trang is a fairly big city of around 400,000 permanent residents that stretches along the coast and back toward the hills behind it. Most of the tourists, and the restaurants and bars that cater for the tourists, are concentrated in one small part of the city so whilst Nha Trang might be considered by some as ‘overdeveloped’ it is actually quite easy to avoid the crowds if you want to.

Po Nagar Temple
Nha Trang has one very important historical site which is one of the must see attractions for visitors on an independent tour of Vietnam and that is Po Nagar, which is located in the Northern part of Nha Trang. Po Nagar is a temple built by the Cham civilisation, mostly in the 8th and 9th Centuries. For a temple of this age, Po Nagar is incredibly well preserved and is generally considered the best example of Cham architecture in Vietnam. Po Nagar temple also occupies a very scenic location and when you visit you should take the time to enjoy the spectacular view over the Cai River and Tran Phu bridge.
Local Transport to Po Nagar Temple
The easiest way to get there from the centre of Nha Trang is to take a motorbike taxi, although if you have limited funds and some ingenuity you can get there by bus from any bus stop on the east side of Tran Phu Road, which is the road that runs along the seafront.
