About Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a large and lively city with over 500,000 residents which is also Vietnam’s best known beach resort, popular with Vietnamese tourists as well as large number of foreign visitors, particularly Russian tourists who fly in direct to nearby Cam Ranh International Airport on charter flights. Nha Trang is located on a large bay with a cluster of islands a short distance off shore. Nha Trang’s major tourist attraction is the 6 km Tran Phu Beach backed by a long promenade and lots of restaurants and bars. In many respects Nha Trang has all the features that you would associate with a popular European resort town like Benidorm in Spain and, like Benidorm, Nha Trang offers great value for money and a wide range of international cuisine.

Nha Trang is, however, very much a city of two parts. The southern of the city is the most popular with tourists, and this is the part of the town with foreign style bars and restaurants, and the majority of the hotels and resorts. The northern part of the city is less touristic and this where most of the residents of the city live. The northern part of the city is also where you find Nha Trang’s main cultural attractions such as the very interesting Po Nagar temple, built between the 7th and 12th Centuries, Cho Dam, which is a large market, and Long Son Pagoda, with its giant white Buddha statue. Nha Trang also has a fishing village located in the northern part of the city on the Cai River near to Po Nagar Temple. Nha Trang has a lot going for it as holiday destination for both visitors on short holidays and people on longer tours around South East Asia looking to do more than simply sit on the beach.
