About Travel to Ninh Binh
Ninh Binh is a very popular tourist destination. although it is some distance from major cities like Hanoi, Hue and Da Nang so in order to visit you really need to stay overnight in the area. The principal attraction near Ninh Binh City is the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex, with is a 62 square kilometre UNESCO World Heritage site. The Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex is often described as Ha Long Bay on land on account of the steep karst hills rising from otherwise flat land used for rice farming. These hills feature many caves which are partially submerged by rivers which meander through the area. A popular excursion is to take a boat trip in the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex to see the Tam Cốc Bích Động valley or the Trang An Grottoes. The 15th Century Bich Dong Pagoda is also worth visiting although you do need to walk up a number of steps to reach it.

The other major attraction near Ninh Binh is the massive Bai Dinh Pagoda, which is located in a dramatic mountainous location 22 km from Ninh Binh Railway Station. The older part of Bai Ding Pagoda is located on a hill about 800 metres from a more recently constructed 700 hectare temple complex feature numerous prayer halls and pagodas, as well as over 500 intricately carved statues of the Lord Buddha.
