About Travel to Binh Thuan

Binh Thuan is the mainline railway station closest to the stretch of coastline often referred to (incorrectly) as Mui Ne.

Phan Thiet

Binh Thuan Railway Station is located 12 km to the north west of the city of Phan Thiet. Phan Thiet is the state capital of Binh Thuan in South Vietnam. With over 300,000 permanent residents, it’s the largest town in the area.

Phan Thiet gets quite a few visitors, and has plenty of tourist accommodation particularly in the southern part of the city near the seafront. Also, on the eastern edge of Phan Thiet there is a major historical attraction, the Po Shanu Cham Towers, built by the Cham civilisation in the 9th Century.

Few foreign visitors, however, choose to stay in Phan Thiet. The more popular area is the 20 km stretch of coastline running east from Phan Thiet.

Mui Ne Beach

Mui Ne Beach is the name often used to describe the whole length of the coastline between Phan Thiet and the village of Mui Ne. Actually, there are a series of individually named beaches along this part of the coast, the longest and most popular of which is Rang Beach, behind which is Ham Tien. Ham Tien is about halfway between Phan Thiet and Mui Ne Village and it’s the central point for Binh Thuan’s tourist industry.

Both sides of the road that run through Ham Tien are lined with hotels, restaurants and bars catering to tourists. The big attraction is the beach, in particular the wind surfing and kite surfing opportunities. At certain times of the year it gets very windy in this part of the coast and it’s generally considered to be one of the best places in Asia for wind surfing and kite surfing. Not everyone who comes on holiday here comes to wind surfing or kite surfing, but the area is lively as a consequence of the large number of water sports enthusiasts.
