About Travel to Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh City is not particularly interesting to most holidaymakers and visiting the city is not the main reason tourists come here, which is to visit the picturesque countryside and temples of the surrounding countryside.

Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex

The major attraction in Ninh Binh Province is the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex which covers an area of over 62 square kilometres. The Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex has the same type of steep sided hills as those that rise from the sea in Ha Long Bay, except that in the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex they rise from valleys of rice fields with meandering rivers.

The two most visited parts of the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex are the Tam Cốc Bích Động valley, where tourists take boat rides into a submerged cave complex, and the Trang An Grottoes, where tourists can also take boat rides into partially submerged caves. There are plenty of tour companies which cover both locations on day trips.

Bai Dinh Pagoda

The other major attraction of Ninh Binh Province is Bai Dinh Pagoda, which is a vast hillside Buddhist temple complex. Bai Dinh Pagoda is a temple of two parts. The original temple is on a hillside over 700 metres up the side of a hill from the newer and much grander part of the temple which features a very tall Chinese style pagoda and some impressively large Chinese style prayer halls and an enormous bell tower. Bai Dinh Pagoda is located 22 km by road from Ninh Binh Railway Station.
